Adele Releases Second Song from Chart Topping New Album
Music Mix Daily Staff
If you haven’t heard the first single, “Hello,” off of Adele’s new album, 25, then you are probably living under the biggest rock to be found on this planet. The song has broken records, topped charts and even become a funny prank for women texting their exes! For fans who felt that this song is what really “broke the internet,” there is no doubting that it seems about time for her to tease another song from the album.
That is just what Adele did during her time on the popular show 60 Minutes Australia, when she sang part of her ballad, “When We Were Young.” While “Hello“ focused on the pain of moving on from someone you once loved, this second ballad channels Adele’s passion on to another type of pain – that of losing time. The nostalgic soon includes lyrics like “I’m getting old, it makes me reckless” and Adele’s personal favorite lyric on the new track, “Adele revealed that her favorite lyric on the track is “You look like a movie, You sound like a song, My God this reminds me of when we were young.” The singer, who is only 27 years old, seems to already be mourning despite being in what many of the older generation would consider her prime years! Still, the passing of time affects us all so, just like when she focused on heartbreak, Adele has touched on another communally felt loss.
One writer for the Guardian put it best when he described the latest album’s songs as dissecting the cause of old scars, while her older albums were looking at fresh wounds. Be it with nostalgia, remorse, or other emotion, Adele is showing her emotional maturity as she looks back on the past.
For those who just can’t wait to hear the whole album, know it won’t be too much longer – the full album is set to be released this Friday!
