The Weeknd surprised fans by dropping his new album, My Dear Melancholy, earlier today. The confirmation that it would be released came from his own Instagram account. In a post last night, he shared the album cover art along with a caption that simply said: “Tonight”.

The internet exploded after this unexpected announcement about the album’s release. After all, news about his new album has been swirling around the music industry for days now. The speculation started when he posted a photo on Instagram on February 22 showing a notepad in the studio with “My Dear Melancholy” written on it.

My Dear Melancholy is the first follow-up from the Canadian Grammy winner since Starboy, which was released in November 2016. The album Starboy was a worldwide hit, and received the Best Urban Contemporary Album award at this year’s Grammy’s.

In addition to releasing My Dear Melancholy, The Weeknd has also confirmed that he will be releasing his own Marvel comic book this summer.
