First Album for Pam Tillis since Dos Divas to be Released
There is a new Pam Tillis album coming out and with her last project being released back in 2013, it certainly one fans are excited for. Inspired by the 1970s, it will be the first solo album since 2007’s Rhinestoned, nearly 10 years old already. While both the release date and title of the new album are yet unknown, we have heard that Tillis is excited for this debut, particularly since exploring the country side of Seventies pop is quite fun. The only information is it should be out by the end of the year.
The gorgeous 58 year old country singer grew up in Nashville as the daughter of Country music star Mel Tillis. Pam Tillis started young when she made her debut on the Grand Ole Opry at age 8. Tillis went on to try her hand at many musical endeavors including songwriting for some big names. Tillis has been making music for decades now, wooing us with her impressive vocals and use of electric guitar. Officially active in the music industry since 1981, Tillis, has been with several major labels including her own. She has appeared in three films, two as herself and the latest which she played Cassidy Sunderson in the Goree Girls of 2013. She’s also appeared in several popular television shows over the years, guest starring in single episodes from 1993 onward, up until her appearance as herself in the 2012 “Nashville” pilot and another 2013 episode. While all that is surely something to be proud of, it is her discography that catches our attention, her first, Above and Beyond the Doll of Cutey, was in 1983 and her last, Dos Divas, was a collaboration with Lorrie Morgan, came exactly 30 years later. Surprisingly, there have only been 12 titles in the 30 year period, which has us even more excited to see one coming out soon.
“I’m a huge Bonnie Raitt fan,” Tillis tells The Tennessean, “and some of the pop music was very influenced by country at the time — Linda Ronstadt, Kenny Loggins, the Eagles — so there’s a bit of that vibe on there.” Now that sounds like a load of fun! And while we wait for the album release, we can enjoy Tillis’ voice as she joins in with the Roots and Boots group to play some hits at the IP Casino Resort. While she may not be releasing albums often or holding shows on tours as much as she used to, the lovely Pam Tillis is still rocking the world of country with 60-70 dates a year. Now, let’s try to get some tickets for the next one!
