New John Prine Album Is Full Of Duets

John Prine

American folk and country singer, John Prine, has been around since the early 1970s,with fans  loving every last note sung from his lips. While no longer a young man, his expertise in the field has been acknowledged since he took up guitar at the age of 14 and soon afterwards began rocking the scene with lovely lyrics and active composition. Born and raised in Maywood, Illinois, 69 year old Prine has made a name for himself around the country. It was a shame when cancer hit him and altered his vocals, adding a gravelly tone to his singing. After beating two forms of cancer, he is somewhat of a hero alongside being a music legend since 1971. While never having topped charts, he’s released 22 albums in his lifetime and received multiple awards. Furthermore, he is due to receive the prestigious PEN Songwriting Award in September along with Tom Waits as we recently heard from the grapevine.

What has caught our attention now is the fact that the first album in nearly 5 years to be released is expected to come out on September 30th through Oh Boy Records, featuring duets with Kacey Musgraves, Lee Ann Womack and Miranda Lambert. Simply called For Better, Or Worse, it will include 15 songs, most featuring an added female voice, and will include songs such as “Who’s Gonna Take the Garbage Out” and “Mr. and Mrs. Used To Be” among many others. It looks to be inspired by the simple moments of marriage and life and will have the release celebrated with a two-night stand at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on the 30th of September and 1st of October. We can’t wait for the album to come out, but in the meantime, we can certainly enjoy Prine on stage as he tours Canada and the United States, appearing in cities such as Toronto and Hamilton in the province of Ontario and going through the States, from Tennessee to Illinois to a December finish in California, beginning from September 9th. It has been a while since a good duet album has been released so Prine’s upcoming masterpiece is certainly awaited by the general public.
