5 Seconds of Summer, also known as 5SOS, the Australian pop rock band, played the famous Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA last Thursday, Sept. 11th, while headlining for the wildly popular One Direction on their North American “Where We Are” tour.
60,000 5 Seconds of Summer fans showed up to Pasadena, some local, and some from across the ocean to see the four Aussie boys, Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin.
Die hard fans could be seen through out the arena, all wearing the band’s t-shirts and other merchandise. Some had even painted their faces or held up large paper signs for the boys to see. It truly was a diverse and exciting crowd all with pure love for the band and their sound.
When the band came on stage, they started their hour long set with the single 18. They jolted the crowd and got their blood flowing as they jumped and danced to the the sound of their pop punk melody. They kept the crowd pumped and even
threw in a cover of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream for those, as Hemmings quoted, “who don’t know our band, but know other popular songs.”
After their emotional performance of their hit single Amnesia to an arena of lit cell phones, the band concluded the performance with smash hit She Looks So Perfect. Between the awkward, yet endearing banter, and the enthusiastic spirit they had towards their fans, it was proven that 5SOS had performed a pretty amazing show and would continue to do so in the promising future ahead of them. It seems 60,000 screaming fans are on to something!
