ABBA, the legendary pop quartet from Sweden that produced some of the best hits in the music industry, such as “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia”, recently confirmed that they have written and recorded two new songs! These will be the band’s first tracks in 35 years.

In an official statement on their Instagram account they said, “We all felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio… And it was like time had stood still and we had only been away on a short holiday.”

In addition to confirming that they have recorded new songs, ABBA also revealed that one song is titled “I Still Have Faith in You”. This will be included in a feature for their upcoming two hour NBC/BBC special that is expected to be aired in December. All four members of the group provided some hints about their new music noting that the sound will definitely be new. They have also confirmed that they will launch a world tour next year.

Throughout their career, ABBA produced 20 hits that appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. They dominated the charts for nearly a decade from 1974 to 1983. One of their top hits was “Dancing Queen”, which peaked at number 1 in 1977. They also had several top 10 hits on Billboard such as “Take a Chance on Me” which peaked at number 3 and “Waterloo” which claimed number 6.

In addition to the singles chart, ABBA also had 13 entries on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Most of these albums were within the top 20 list on the chart — such as Super Trouper, Voulez-Vous, and Arrival. The group also released their Gold – Greatest Hits album which spent over 130 weeks on the Billboard 200 charts and sold almost 6 million copies worldwide.

ABBA was formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1972. The band rose to international fame two years after that following their win on the Eurovision contest held in Brighton, England. In this competition, they performed their hit single “Waterloo”. Following their international success, the band produced a string of global hits over the next decade. Fans have been wishing for a reunion for decades — since the band withdrew from the limelight in 1983. The new album and world tour is a treat to their fans who have been waiting for the group to re-unite to create new music. Stay tuned to Music Mix Daily for more ABBA updates!
