The Band Perry We Are Pioneers Tour
By: Guest Reviewer Kayla Rogers
The Band Perry played Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary NC in support of their latest album, Pioneer. I attended the concert with my parents. We had front row seats which was exciting. I am a member of their official fan club. I had applied for a meet and greet but didn’t get picked for this show. Hopefully I will get picked for my next show!! I even stopped by the radio station tent on my way into the show to try to win a meet and greet, but they said they had already given them away. I have seen The Band Perry four times in concert and met them twice. They all seem to be very down to earth.
The Band Perry is a family band made up of siblings Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry. They took the stage a little after 8 o’clock when the curtain dropped covering their stage, lights, etc. It was still daylight out and they started singing their hit Done. The venue was packed all the way to the back of the lawn!! Everyone was standing up and singing along to the songs. During their set they played many of their hit songs like Postcard from Paris, All Your Life, You Lie and Don’t Let Me Be Lonely. They even played their first single Hip to My Heart. They sang their latest radio release Chainsaw. They sang the title track to their latest album Pioneer and many songs off of Pioneer that haven’t been released as singles like I am a Keeper. I love that song! It sends such a great message to everyone. They also sang Amazing Grace during their set. It is great to see a band sing a religious song! A Band Perry staple in their shows is that they cover the song Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen. They also covered the song Timber by Kesha and Pitbull. They did a great job covering both songs. The concert was very high energy. Kimberly really sings her heart out onstage and they all move around the stage a lot. Neil and Reid also have great singing voices and tons of personality.
For their encore they sang If I Die Young and Better Dig Two. When they sang Better Dig Two they all played the drums. It was really cool and at the end of the show Kimberly gave away her drum sticks to a lucky fan.
With this tour they had a bigger stage and more lights which was really neat to see as a Band Perry fan. I look forward to my next show and hopefully then I will get another meet and greet.
I have had the chance to see The band Perry as openers twice and headliners twice. As a fan, it is great to get to see them play their own headlining show. This year they are doing a mix of opening for Blake Shelton, festivals, special events and of course some headliner shows.
The Band Perry proves in concert that they are very deserving of their award for Vocal Group of The Year which they won at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards.
Their fans include all ages, male and female. They appear to be respected and adored by their fans, including me.
