Circa Survive Tour Review
By Luke Kraft for Music Mix Daily
When I heard that one of my favorite bands was playing a local venue, I was happy to offer to do a Circa Survive Tour Review. The night started off with a meet, and greet with the fans. Circa Survive played 3 acoustic songs for us. Anthony Green killed it. Belting out the lyrics, and sounding live exactly like he does in a recording studio. In between the songs he would chat with the crowd which was only about 25 of us. He was very funny, and did a good job of making a connection with everyone at the meet and greet. In a surreal moment he even talked to me. Comparing my friend and I, who were watching from the balcony, to the old muppet guys.
The first opening band was Chon and was made up of very talented young musicians. They were slightly awkward on stage seeming to do their own thing without really interacting with each other or the audience. Also, the lack of a singer left something to be desired. However, they have an interesting sound that is very uniquely their own.
The second band, Balance and Composure, was much more engaging with the audience, and got off to a great start. They were received well by the crowed and put on a pretty kick ass show. They did a good job of getting everyone pumped for the main event.
On to the main show! Circa Survive and in particular, Anthony Green, was electric, and the crowd fed off of this energy. They had a very impressive light show going on that synced well with the music. The crowd was way into the show, and Green showed his appreciation by singing his heart out. The crowd was so pumped up that multiple people started to crowed surf. Green took a little break in-between songs to make a joke referencing back to the meet and greet, hoping to simmer down the young crowd. The show was very streamlined from beginning to end. I have seen this band 5 times and my friends and I agree that this was by far the best.
Circa Survive is on tour until October, check out their site for a city near you!
