With Bjork’s ninth studio album Utopia having been released on November 24th and now available on the typical music outlets, “Blissing Me” brings beauty to the screen with a minimalistic video that looks like a fairy from a dream singing about a rather utopian modern love story built upon a musical base. The words are poetic, beautiful and actually make you look them up instead of blindly repeating a refrain on loop. This is one of Bjork’s strengths, something we expect to see a lot of in this latest, highly anticipated album.
MOTi played the perfect club set and took the audience on a truly special musical journey that few DJs are equipped to lead. If you have the opportunity to join one of these expeditions, I highly recommend it.
Of course, Encore is the perfect place to see David Guetta. A little more hip hop than Trap, it’s a place where people who aspire (and often succeed) to be young, rich and beautiful go to be seen. It’s always packed with partiers who are having too much fun to notice that the sun has burned the living daylights out of them. People feel themselves a lot at Encore; I mean, really feel themselves.
As a seasoned professional, you can count on Kaskade to read his audience and venue. Accordingly, the set he played at Wet Republic was aimed at a crowd of whom only a handful were there for the express purpose of seeing him, and of whom probably half couldn’t name a single one of his tracks. Which must be weird because at a festival, everyone knows and either passionately loves or hates his music.
Surprise EP Drop by the Diplo-Led Trio for “Know No Better” Major Lazer had announced a new song called “Know No Better” and it is pretty incredible with the vocals of Travis Scott, Quavo, and Camila Cabello. Out on June 1st, International Child Protection Day, the...
Alyx Ander is a hot new artist whose single “Memories of You” is lighting up the EDM airwaves. I predict this Miami-based DJ will soon be booking gigs coast to coast (maybe even EDC Vegas 2018!), so I reached out to request an interview before he’s so busy he won’t have the time. Not only did he accommodate: he proved to be a super friendly and slightly goofy guy who sent me a waving Baby Groot and didn’t bat an eye when I replied with a Star Lord dance-off clip.
Highly anticipated for some time now, it is finally here. Axwell and Ingrosso have released their debut EP on May 24th, which includes four tracks and includes two tunes we already know of. “More Than You Know” is the also title of the album, while “Renegade” has been much loved by fans of the duo.
Catchy new single “No Promises” by Cheat Codes, featuring Demi Lovato, has a lovely accompanying music video that is just perfect for the summer. It stars all three band members plus the pop star herself, who co-wrote the song with the electric dance group.
f you haven’t seen Galantis before, it truly is a fantastic show. There are multicolored lights, carbon dioxide bursts, drums, and flag-waving. There are frenetic sections of activity behind the turntable that look like they are mixing music. And there is a guest appearance by their mythical mascot the seafox (who I for a long time thought was a featureless cat). Whether in a nightclub or at a festival, you can expect these thematic elements from the Swedish duo’s performance.
Illenium has produced a surprising number of insanely good original tracks, which he deftly remixed for the festival setting, to the delight (and occasional teary eye) of his fans. Among the best were Fortress, It’s All on U, my new favorite Sound of Walking Away, and my all-time favorite Tiny Fractures. And as every good DJ should, he mixed in some other tracks including Kaskade’s Disarm You, Don’t Let Me Down by the Chainsmokers, and Flume’s Say It.
