Ellie Goulding Halcyon Days Tour Review
By Lesa Browning
On a rainy Wednesday night Ellie Goulding was back in Seattle, this time headlining her own tour in support of her album Halcyon Days, the bonus edition of the 2012 LP Halcyon. Goulding was here just a year ago, opening for 2013 Artist of the Year Bruno Mars. If she was hot then, and she was, now she is on fire. Outside the historic Paramount Theatre were four tour busses lined up, all silver with her logo in the windshield. Two semi trucks were backed into the side stage doors… this was no amateur act. In fact, this concert would be a steady stream of cool LED video backdrop with photos and lights in a show of modern art. Goulding is a seasoned performer and very comfortable with her audience. She was full of energy and sounded great. She likes to move and encouraged the crowd to do the same. Saving her most popular hits for the end, she really got the crowd moving and singing along with Anything Can Happen, I Need Your Love and Lights. The stage went dark and she returned with her encore of You My Everything and finally Burn.
Ellie Goulding put on a fabulous show. She seems to have morphed into a quickly growing superstar in the past year. Some say it has been a slow rise for Goulding in the US and that may be true. But if the television appearances, movie soundtracks, award shows and high fashion shots are any indication of her success, I would say she has arrived.
Goulding will be wrapping up her US tour in the coming weeks and will be heading to Australia and Europe. You can find loads of photos, videos, music and tour information at www.elliegoulding.com
