Artist Of The Week: Emily Hackett
Emily Hackett is an up-and-coming country artist that’s taking the music industry by storm!
We recently had the amazing opportunity to sit down and interview Emily. Born in Cleveland, raised in Atlanta, and currently residing in Nashville, she’s a true storyteller at heart. There’s good reason that her releases “Nostalgia” and “Good Intentions” are among the top downloaded tunes on Spotify! She has incredible talent when it comes to weaving her experiences into her music and sharing the songs with her audience.
Emily has been in the music industry for a while now, having released original music over the past three years. She didn’t grow up listening to country music, though. In fact, she didn’t discover the genre until she was in high school and began listening to Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks.
One day, she went on a road trip to Nashville with her mother and her best friend. She ended up falling in love with the city and decided to enroll at Belmont University. This was really the start of her music career, as she went on to meet several people who influenced her. She also met her soon-to-be husband while in Nashville. With her love of country music flourishing, she worked on writing more songs and learning about the business aspect of the music industry.
During this time she also won a music competition for the department store Belk, and this opened up more doors of opportunity for her. In 2014, she released “Take My Hand (The Wedding Song)”, which quickly became popular as a first dance track. She worked on this track with another Nashville musician, Will Anderson. The music video for the song reached a whopping 19 million views on YouTube!
In 2015, she released The Raw EP, which consisted of her first set of self-penned tracks. This EP included 6 songs that showcased sparse melodies and her raw lyricism. Her stripped down style, knack for honest lyrics, and a touch of outlaw spunk was definitely a breath of fresh air!
She has now released her By the Sun EP, which consists of 5 songs. She plans on releasing a full-length album later this year that will consist of 5 additional tracks. For this EP, she deviates from her acoustic style to perform more pop-powered tunes. This showcases her diversity as an artist and her songwriting skills.
Emily has worked with some of the best names in the country music industry, including Lady Antebellum, Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts, and Jason Aldean. For more information about this incredible artist, visit her official website. You can also follow her on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
