Fetty Wap’s Debut Album Skyrockets to Number One
Music Mix Daily Staff
You may not have heard of William Maxwell, but chances are you know of him by his stage name, Fetty Wap. Despite already having three chart toping singles, 2014’s “Trap Queen” which hit number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, as well as “679” and “My Way,” which reached the top ten, Fetty Wap had yet to release a studio album. All that changed when he released a self-stilted debut album back on September 25th – Fetty Wap’s first record officially debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart!
Hailing from New Jersey, Fetty Wap’s record is the first debut album to reach number one since A$AP Rocky released Long Live A$AP back in early 2012. Perhaps more incredible is the rapper’s ability to push Drake out the number one spot after his latest album spent only one week at the top of the charts. That said, it’s not like Drake’s mixtape “What a Time to Be Alive” disappeared completely – he only got moved to number two and he is featured on Fetty Wap’s album on the hit song “My Way.”
Fetty Wap went through a traumatic accident only one day after the release of his album, crashing his motorcycle and breaking his left leg in three different places (not to mention the fact that he was booked for driving without a licence and not having insurance). While the rapper is known for being loud and proud about his missing eye (proudly being photographed without a prosthetic eye and even going without it on the cover of his latest album), we hope he’s taking the time from this latest injury to heal up for a tour soon! For now, promotional concerts for the album’s release are being cancelled or put on hold as the rapper deals with his physical and legal troubles.
