Frank Ocean Back on Stage after Three Years!

2014 Pemberton Music And Arts Festival

It has been too long since we last saw one of our favorite R&B singers take to the stage; three years too long to be exact! Frank Ocean, singer, songwriter and rapper known for his idiosyncratic musical style since he plunged into the world of musical talents in 2010. Not having been around much since 2014, fans around the country are rejoicing to hear that 2017 will bring with it some much-anticipated tours, with him headlining the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores in Alabama on May 19-21 and Sasquatch! in George, Washington on May 26-28. He will also be appearing at Danish festival NorthSide on June 9, while London’s Lovebox festival has also confirmed the artist’s headline for July 14. Europe certainly seems to love him and Ocean himself seems to be looking forward to throwing away his reclusive attitude and actually engaging with his fans. “I need to know how many records I’ve sold, how many album equivalents from streaming, which territories are playing my music more than others, because it helps me in conversations about where we’re gonna be playing shows, or where I might open a retail location, like a pop-up store or something,” Ocean said.

The man may be a well-known Grammy winner, but he is still quite the mystery for many in the world of music. His record Blonde was finally physically available on vinyl as well, as of the last week of November, appearing just before Black Friday. The exclusive item was available only for a limited 24 hour period though and it will be interesting to see what the price of it will be this summer. He also had the “Boys Don’t Cry” zine for $80. on his website, with numerous posters related to the album appearing for $25. A Blonde themed air freshener also seemed to be on the market for $15. The double-LP itself on vinyl was sold through XL Recordings for $35, the CD version coming in for the same as the air freshener… Surprising! With shipments taking place just in time to make it for Christmas, we are sure Ocean’s fans were thrilled with all  the buying opportunities!

We will be watching closely to see what additional tour dates are added.
