Ice Cube Announced Great News for Dr. Dre Fans
Music Mix Daily Staff
On an inconspicuous Arizona radio station, Hot 98.3, Ice Cube dropped a bomb: Dr. Dre will be releasing a new album, and in just a few days!
According to Ice Cube, the record will be released right before the highly anticipated movie Straight Outta Compton, which details the lives of N.W.A. band members as they shot to fame. In fact, it was the movie, which will be released on August 14 in theaters, which inspired Dr. Dre to write his new album. However, some sources think that album won’t come out as soon as Ice Cube expects.
Apparently, new-school rappers and hip hop artists including Eminem and Kendrick Lamar are featured on the new album. We wouldn’t be surprised if some old members of N.W.A. are on there too – maybe even Ice Cube himself!
Fans are ecstatic at the idea of new tunes from the rapper, considering that his last record, The Chronic 2001, was released way back in 1999. That is 16 years ago! While Dre worked on a new album, Detox, for several years, he ended up scrapping it after song leaks, much to our disappointment.
Of course, we haven’t been completely without Dre’s musical talent in the past years. He has collaborated with other artists. For example, he released the song “Kush” with Akon and Snoop Dogg and joined forces with Skyler Gray and Eminem on “I Need a Doctor.”
Another cause for celebration for N.W.A. fans, Ice Cube also shared with Hot 98.3 that there is a chance of an N.W.A. reunion tour. The tour could even include Eminem as an honorary member of the old-school group. Acting like the members are all interested, he puts it on “promoters coming to the table and putting together something that works for everybody.” Come on, promoters – we’re counting on you!
