J. Cole to be featured on Janet Jackson’s “No Sleeep

Janet Jackson’s recent return to the music scene has been nothing but success. Her tour is selling out, her new single, “No Sleeep,” has blown up the charts and – we’re just learning now – she’s doing some great collaborations, too!

Most notably, the legendary singer is releasing a version of “No Sleeep” featuring J. Cole. Jackson is clearly a huge fan of Cole, showing up at one of his concerts in L.A. and tweeting a cute picture of her and her friends with the caption “girl’s night out”. At the time, she didn’t mention the collaboration, but sources claim that she and J. Cole kept the recording pretty low key.

California native, Jermaine Cole, who goes by the stage name J. Cole, has been recording and  producing R&B and rap hits for years. He considers Tupac, Nas and Eminem as influence and got his big break back in 2009 when Jay Z featured him on the track “A Star is Born, from his The Blueprint 3 album. Since then,  Cole has toured with greats like Drake, co-produced songs for success stories like Kendrick Lamar, and even had time to create his own skillfully crafted albums – most recently releasing 2014 Forest Hills Drive to critical acclaim and platinum status!

With such a musical resume, it is not a surprise that Janet Jackson was interested in working the young artist. Plus, with her own Unbreakable Tour set to start at the end of August in Vancouver, Canada (and a second leg just announced for early 2016!), Jackson must be getting excited and inspired by all the other amazing artists on tour out there. Perhaps there will be some future surprise collaborations soon. In the meantime, we have our fingers crossed that we’ll be seeing some live Jackson performances featuring J. Cole, too!
