Jimmy Fallon Show features New Blondie Song
American rock band Blondie performed “Long Time” on the Jimmy Fallon Tonight late night talk show, a song that appears on the band’s recently released 11th LP, the Pollinator album. Debby Harry sounded amazing as she crooned and belted it out. As pioneers of the new wave genre, they band was right at home as the lights flashed around with the disco-tinged rhythm, the swooning beauty of the song capturing the attention of the audience with ease. Harry is a co-writer on the song along with Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes.
The album is said to have collaborations with Sia, Charli XCX, Laurie Anderson, Joan Jett, as well as Johny Marr from The Smiths, Nick Valensi from The Strokes, and TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek. Finally on the multiple news end is the little tidbit about going on tour with Garbage co-headlining it from July 5th in Saratoga, California, under the name of Rage and Rapture. There are 20 dates planned around the United States throughout July and August, with John Doe and Exen Cervenka opening the first half of the tour and rock duo Deap Vally serving as supporting act for the second part.
For a 71 year old singer, Debbie Harry is pretty amazing still!! With Blondie raging through the ‘70s onwards, it makes sense that Pollinator is very much in tune with the ‘80s, something that matches with the latest styles in music and fashion, among others. Blondie is having fun on the Billboard charts as well, with “Fun” cresting Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart. They are huge to say the least, and have been for nearly 50 years at this point, with more than 40 million albums sold. There is everything to love about the rock band which has made waves and headlines for decades now.
