John Prine Releases New Album- The mastermind behind “Summer’s End” is legendary singer-songwriter John Prine, the 71-year-old artist with a love for country folk. He has announced the release date for his newest album due out April 13th of this year, while he is still going strong in the music scene as we have already seen when he wowed AmericanaFest with surprise marathon set of his 1971 debut album, presenting it in its entirety. The Tree of Forgiveness is now available for pre-order. This is the first LP of new music we have seen from Prine in over 13 years!

The album is produced by Dave Cobb, who has helmed projects for other top artists such as Jason Isbell, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Chris Stapleton. It is set to include several co-writes by Prine, while special guests include Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires. There will also be quite a bit of touring in store for Prine, starting April 11th in Woodstock, New York at Levon’s Place and continuing into the United Kingdom come August, as well as the Netherlands, Norway and Ireland before returning to the United States and finishing off in Tucson, Arizona on December 15 th just in time for the winter holidays.

The Tree of Forgiveness includes 10 tracks, generally co-written, and all new music. It also includes “God Only Knows” and “When I Get to Heaven” among the mix, bringing thoughts of one’s own mortality to mind. It will be interesting to see how these pieces play out. All in all though, it is incredible to see Prine back with so much to give in 2018 and we hope he has a few more decades of music to impart.
