New Music, New Label and New Single for LeAnn Rimes
We have loved LeAnn Rimes for decades now, enjoying her powerful voice and lyrics that bind our souls to the stories tells. Now, after 20 years on Nashville’s Curb Records, there is a new record deal made with RCA’s UK Division, home to many other top names, including Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Usher and more. Rimes, however, is the only country singer on the list, though now we have to wonder if there will be a change in genre as well, possibly throwing in a whole lot of pop. She is, however, collaborating with Darrell Brown again, and we are waiting for something as awesome as “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” sometime soon!
It’s been a long time since we’ve heard anything new from the now 33 year old singer/songwriter, with the last appearance on the Christmas 2015 album bringing cheer to the holidays, though the new single known as “The Story” has already become a huge hit since its release on June 24th. As expected, it is a love song, though one that centers on self-acceptance, appearing as part of her 16th album that the music world expects will be out before the end of 2016. Written by Phil Hanseroth, and while it starts off slow and on a sadder note, it quickly progresses into something a lot more fiery, with a firm backbeat and a strong emphasis on guitar.
With a career in singing from the tender age of 13, Rimes has been moving us to tears for many years now, 20 to be exact, with her voice and incredible lyrics playing with our heartstrings beautifully. “To me, music is so different these days than when I first started,” she said. “I look at myself as a worldwide artist. I’ve had success everywhere.”
“The Story” has been released in the UK and internationally, while Rimes has tweeted and mentioned in a few interviews that a new US/Canadian single is to follow afterwards. It can be streamed off VeVo and Youtube; it sounds positively stunning. We just cannot wait to see what new and unique music she creates next, though we can start by enjoying her return to Nashville to play with the Nashville Symphony on July 8th. Now, the wait for the North American single begins…
