Selena Gomez is an American singer and actress. She was born on July 22, 1992 in Texas. Her father is of Mexican descent while her mother is of Italian ancestry. Selena began her career by appearing in the children’s TV series Barney & Friends. She also had a recurring role in Disney’s Hannah Montana. Despite appearing on TV before, Selena Gomez made a name for herself after her starring role as Alex in Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place.
From 2010 to 2013, she managed to appear in three other films: Ramona and Beezus, Monte Carlo, and Spring Breakers. In 2013, she also launched her music career with the release of her debut solo album Stars Dance. The album reached the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 charts, and its top single was “Come & Get It”. She also embarked on the Stars Dance Tour that same year, which saw her touring North America and Europe. The end of this tour was cancelled after Selena underwent chemotherapy for lupus, which is a type of auto-immune disease.
Her other top ten single was “The Heart Wants What It Wants”. Following the release of this song, she signed a new deal with Interscope Records (her previous record deal was with Hollywood Records). In 2015, she collaborated with Zedd for her new single “I Want You To Know”. It was her fourth top ten single on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts.
In late 2015, she recorded another studio album called Revival. This album was met with positive criticism and even managed to reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. In the first week following its release, it sold 117,000 units — which remains the highest first week sales to date for Selena. A few more songs were released off of her second album, such as “Good for You” and “Same Old Love”. Both of these singles peaked at number five on the US Hot Billboard 100.
Aside from her musical success, Selena Gomez is the brand ambassador for Pantene and also returned to acting in movies. She was part of the cast for Hotel Transylvania 2. Her other endorsements include Sears, Neo by Adidas, Louis Vuitton, Coca-Cola, and Coach.
As for her personal life, Selena has had very public relationships in the past with Disney star Nick Jonas, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd.
