R&B Star Jason Derulo, best known for his hit singles “Wiggle,” “Talk Dirty,” and “Whatcha Say,” has teamed up with country legend Keith Urban and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Stevie Wonder on his new single, “Broke”. It may not be the most insane collaboration of all time, but it sure is in the running! The song is the first single off of Everything is 4, which will drop on June 2nd.

While Keith Urban is no stranger to collaboration, with the result of his cooperation with Eric Church, “Raise ‘Em Up,” topping the Country Music Charts. Still, with lyrics like “Mo’ money, mo’ problems, So I’d rather be broke” and an emphasis on the hip-hop lifestyle, Keith seems like quite an unusual choice as Derulo’s guest star. Somehow though, it really works. Keith showcases his banjo and guitar skills as a special guest who will not be forgotten in the R&B world of drum loops and focus on funky dance moves. Add in Stevie Wonder’s genius on the harmonica, and you’ve got a fantastic country-meets-R&B song. Listening to the tune, we got to a bizarre moment where we could really imagine B-boys breaking it down over a Stevie Wonder solo. Never dreamed that one would be possible before!

While Keith Urban and Stevie Wonder both contribute musically, but not lyrically to the song, Derulo’s voice propels the song to a new place. Derulo is no stranger to country music alliances, having lent his talent to a remix of “This is How We Roll by Florida Georgia Line. Even better, “Broke is only the first track off the new album that features guest musicians, though it is definitely the most extreme in terms of crossing genre lines. Derulo has teamed up with Meghan Trainor, K. Michelle and Jennifer Lopez, too! If you, like us, can’t wait for the album to hit stores, remember that you can preorder it on iTunes now!
