The Country Music Association Awards Nominations Are In!

CMA

Announced last night, the biggest award show in Country Music has produced the nominations for the best of their best. It seems we will be seeing more than the usual suspects this year with a large number of new comers in the mix. Maybe most notable are the new female singers on the list. Kelsea Ballerini took a slot in the Female Vocalist category. Kacey Musgraves received an Album of the Year nomination for Pageant Material, along with Female Vocalist and Video of the Year nods. Breakout duo Maddie & Tae hit the jackpot with three nominations, New Artist, Vocal Duo and a Video of the Year spot for their debut,  “Girl in a Country Song.” Chris Stapleton scored three nominations for Male Vocalist, New Artist and Album of the Year for Traveller. Also new to the awards scene, Brothers Osbourne were nominated for Vocal Duo.

Let’s not forget one of Country music’s hottest newcomers… Sam Hunt! The fast rising star was given three nominations, including Song of the Year and Single of the Year for his number one hit “Take Your Time.”

The night was not all about new comers of course, Nashville veterans were well-represented; Eric Church and Little Big Town were at the top of the heap with five nominations each. Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert each had four. There will be no battle between Blake and Miranda this year for Entertainer of the Year — only Miranda was nominated, along with Luke Bryan, Garth Brooks, Eric Church and Kenny Chesney. Both Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert were nominated for Vocalist of the Year, let’s see if the recently separated couple can maintain their winning streak.

Carrie Underwood (Female Vocalist of the Year & Video of the Year nominee) and Brad Paisley will co-host the show on Wednesday, Nov. 4 on ABC.
