Fans of The Smashing Pumpkins have reason to be excited! Today the band announced that they’ll perform an intimate, surprise show at a legendary Los Angeles venue this Wednesday, June 27. Radio station 106.7 KROQ will announce the show’s location as well as how to get tickets on Wednesday morning at 7:00 am PST.
The original members of The Smashing Pumpkins – Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlain, and James Iha – recently released their newest single, “Solara”. It’s the first time the band has released a single since 2000, which ends a nearly two-decade long absence in the music industry.
The new song was produced by Rick Rubin and features Jeff Schroeder on guitar. The remaining band member, bassist D’Arcy Wretzky, is no longer part of the group and will not be a part of their upcoming reunion tour due to an internal conflict with the band.
Since May, Billy Corgan has been teasing fans about the audio and music video for the new tune. The director of the video is Nick Koenig. He’s the same director behind some of the most popular videos on YouTube that have had millions of views, such as Lil Peep’s “Awful Things” and Marshmello’s “Spotlight”.
The band’s U.S. tour will coincide with the release of three EPs from the new record. They’ll kick off their North American Shiny and Oh So Bright tour at Glendale, Arizona’s Gila River Arena on July 12. The set list for the tour will include songs from their first five albums.
