If you’ve been following the news about Blake Shelton this week, you may have heard how he played an impromptu, free concert last night at the Grizzly Rose in Denver!  Although he’s shared a lot about himself on social media and in interviews, we thought we’d highlight some of the lesser known facts about this country superstar…

1. Blake Shelton’s debut, number one single, “Austin” made him known to the world. However, it wasn’t supposed to be the first single he released. Instead, he was supposed to use a song that was written for him called “I Wanna Talk About Me”. In the end, he never ended up recording the song, although Toby Keith did a few years later. It turned out that it wasn’t nearly as successful as “Austin”!

2. He caught a drunken intruder in his uncle’s home in 2007, and was able to detain the man until the police came!

3. Shelton’s mom, Dorothy, owns a salon in his hometown (Ada, Oklahoma). His sister is a jewelry designer, and his dad was a car dealer.

4. His full name is Blake Tollison Shelton, and he wrote his first song when he was 15. After graduating high school at 17, he moved to Nashville to work on his career.
